For each election, you will configure VxAdmin by loading an election definition file. VxAdmin is generally compatible with state election file data or a file format provided by VotingWorks. State specific instructions are provided separately.
When VxAdmin is not configured, the screen will display Configure VxAdmin.
Select Existing Election Definition File - select this option when using a standard election definition file provided by VotingWorks.
Select Existing Setup Package Zip File - select this option when using a standard election zip file provided by VotingWorks.
Convert from SEMS files - Mississippi counties select this option when creating their own election definition from SEMS files.
Load Demo Election Definition - see the Demo Election Definition instructions for details.
You must have the file(s) saved to a USB drive. Insert the USB drive into the VxAdmin laptop's USB hub. In the top-right of the screen, the text should change from No USB
to Eject USB
.
Select the correct button for your file type.
Select your file and select Open
.
Once complete, the Definition screen will display all of the details of your election. Select View Definition JSON
to view candidate and contest details.
If you need to change an election definition or reset VxAdmin for the next election, you must remove the election definition.
Select Definition from the side menu and select Remove Election.
After confirming that you want to remove the election definition and results data, you will return to the initial VxAdmin configuration screen. From there you can re-configure VxAdmin and load a new election definition file by repeating the steps above.
